Wealth Deity Ritual Prayers December 9-15, 2016

In this tenth lunar month, as 2016 and the Fire Monkey year are drawing to a close, Ayang Rinpoche's monastery in India will hold a wealth deity puja December 9-15, 2016. Ayang Rinpoche will be present in Bylakuppe for the Yangdrup and preside as Dorje Lopon over the ritual prayers.

A wealth deity puja, or Yangdrup, is an extensive ritual to generate "Yang", the powerful magnetizing properties associated with fortune and luck, which in turn creates all opportunities to ensure an abundance of wealth, prosperity and success in a person's personal, business and family life, as well as accomplishment in spiritual practice.

This year the annual Yangdrup will focus on Namsey, also known in Sanskrit as Vaishravana, a powerful god of wealth and fortune similar to the well-known Dzambhala. Lamas, monks and nuns at the monastery will also do Guru Rinpoche offering prayers during the Yangdrup.

The total cost of the Yangdrup is approximately $22,000. People who wish to dedicate prayers for their loved ones, including pets, living or dead, and would like to sponsor or donate towards tormas, butter lamps, tsog,  tea, meals, offerings for monks and nuns, or management and travel expenses, may send in their contributions through Amitabha Foundation in their own country or directly to the monastery's account (see the information below). For a US-tax-deductible donation you may also send a check in USD to Amitabha Foundation USA, P.O. Box 2572, Aptos, California 95001, or make offerings online. Dedications must be received by December 13 at 5 PM Pacific Time to be sent to the monastery in time.

Dorje Phurba

Dorje Phurba Drupchen November 2-8, 2016

Dear Jon,

At Ayang Rinpoche's monastery in South India they will hold their annual Vajrakilaya Drupchen (Great Accomplishment puja), November 2-8, 2016. Vajrakilaya (Dorje Phurba) is one of the most effective yidam practices, which are the root of spiritual accomplishment. It is known in the Tibetan Buddhist world as the most powerful means of destroying the forces counteracting compassion and of purifying obscurations and negativity.  The phurba, or wisdom dagger, is a symbol of our unchangeable true nature of mind. Gen Tsewang Tharchin, Ayang Rinpoche's brother and abbot of the monastery, says, "Vajrakilaya is the best practice to clear away any kind of obstacles."

All the monastery's lamas, monks, nuns and associated lay people in the community will do elaborate offering prayers and chant the Vajrakilaya mantra for seven full days. There will be no official count of the mantras, but everyone is encouraged to participate by chanting the mantra at home.

OM BENZA KILI KILIYA SARWA BIGHANEN BAM HUNG PHAT

The total cost of the Drubchen is approximately $22,000. People who wish to dedicate prayers for their loved ones living or dead and would like to sponsor or donate towards meals, butter lamp, Tsog,  tea, alter, offerings for monks and nuns, management and travel expenses, may send in their contributions through Amitabha Foundation in their own country or directly to the monastery's account (see the information below). For a US-tax-deductible donation you may also send a check in USD to Amitabha Foundation USA, P.O. Box 2572, Aptos, California 95001, or donate online. Dedications must be received by November 6 at 5 PM Pacific Time to be sent to the monastery in time.

New Global Giving Campaign for Safe Home Childbirth In Tibet

Newborn, mother and Dr. Ngagay at Rima Clinic

In honor of the U.S. holiday of Mother's Day, May 8, 2016, we are kicking off a new fundraising campaign through Global Giving to support our clinic in Tibet. In 2014 we raised $27,165 and in 2015 another $5,025 for our Safe Childbirth in Tibet project through Global Giving. Our success was due to the exceptional generosity of friends of the Amitabha Foundation, and their friends reached through Facebook, Twitter and other online social media.

Our goal this year is to raise $30,000, enough to pay health workers' salaries for 1 year, provide training and supplies to reduce infant mortality and purchase a new ambulance for the Rima Village Clinic in Ayang Rinpoche's birthplace area in Eastern Tibet. Read more about our Global Giving project here, or make a donation now. You can pay online or by check.
Even if you have very limited financial resources, you can help us raise money for this important cause by creating your own personalized fundraising page for this project. You could set one up to commemorate Mother's Day or Father's Day, your birthday, your wedding, the marathon you're about to run, your new business venture, to remember a loved one, or for any other reason you can think of!
Share our project on Twitter or Facebook, so we can reach others who will care about saving mothers' and infants' lives in this remote area on the Tibetan Plateau. Every new person you connect with could make the difference in providing a clean home birth with an educated birth attendant and access to emergency care.

Thank you for caring!
