Annual Drubchens

We have annual Drubchens at the monasteries at Dechen Choekhor Ling in Mundgod and Thupten Shedrub Jangchub Ling in Bylakuppe.  The Annual Drubchen at Bylakuppe this year is Amitabha Buddha and will  begin from August 6 and last between 11-14 days depending on when the total count of 1 billion Buddha Amitabha mantra is accumulated.  The Drubchen will be presided by Khenpo Konchog Tashi. All the  Rinpoches, Khenpos, Monks, Nuns and Lay people will be chanting Buddha Amitabha mantras to accumulate the1 billion total during the Drubchen.

Ayang Rinpoche requests that all Buddhist practitioners and others associated with the Amitabha Foundation worldwide contribute to this practice and send their recitations of the Buddha Amitabha Mantra to accumulate the 1 billion total. Mantras may be accumulated and the totals sent in daily between August 6 to August 16. Send your mantra totals through the Amitabha Foundation in your own country, or directly to amitabhafoundation@yahoo.co.in or drikungcharitablesociety@yahoo.com.

The Buddha Amitabha mantra is OM AMI DEWA HRI.

The total expenses of the Drubchen is approximately $30,000. People who wish to dedicate prayers for their loved ones living or dead and like to sponsor or donate towards meals, butter lamp, Tsog,  tea, alter, offerings for monks and nuns, management and travel expenses,  may kindly send in their contributions through Amitabha Foundation in your own country or directly to the monastery’s account (see the information below).

100,000 Tsok Offering dedications due July 11

Tomorrow, Monday, July 11, is the last day to submit names of loved ones to be included on the prayer list for the Guru Rinpoche 100,000 Tsok Offering Puja being held at Ayang Rinpoche's monastery in Bylakuppe, South India on July 13 and 14. This year is the year of the fire monkey, an extremely auspicious time, as fire monkey is the birth year of Guru Rinpoche. Free Public talk on Death, Dying and events after death.

Death, the final and inescapable event of our life. We know it is inevitable but are we prepared to deal with this event? Most of us would like to carry on with our daily activities and just sweep that morbid subject under the carpet and adopt the ostrich attitude. But when death is staring at us in our face, we will panic and become terribly fearful because of the unknown that we will go through.

Fear of the unknown, together with clinging to our past familiar surroundings and people in the face of imminent death will cause tremendous amount of distress. Because, no one, and nothing will be able to help, delay or stop you from dying. This stressful mental  condition will precisely lead us to the cycle of rebirth, old age, illness and death. Just like downloading driving directions prior to setting off on our road journey, it is better to learn all we can about death and dying during our life so that when death arrives, we will face it with confidence and for some who is well prepared, with joy in anticipation of final liberation.

Joy, because for the successful and dedicated practitioners, death marks the end of suffering and the beginning of ultimate joy. Not only will one have the chance of ultimate enlightenment at the moment of our death, but also when one has the right attitude and outlook of this life, we will not waste our precious human life on frivolous mundane activities but will concentrate on activities that will benefit ourselves and all others.

His Eminence Choeje Ayang Rinpoche, will be giving us a talk on dying, death and Bardo (Intermediate state). He will inform us on the process of death and what will happen to us after death. At the same time he will tell us what can be done during our life so that we will be able to face this inevitable final event fearlessly with confidence.

In the 8^th century Buddha Amitabha transmitted Phowa practice, the transference of consciousness, to Padmasambhava. Since then, this practice had been passed from Guru to

student uninterruptedly to present day.  This “transference of consciousness” is the Tibetan Buddhist method for attaining a better rebirth, liberation or enlightenment at the moment of death or in the after-death Bardo. Sufficiently accomplished practitioners may also use this uncomplicated and powerful method for the benefit of other persons and animals at their moment of death. Phowa can appeal to those who, although ignorant of the vast traditions of Dharma, have a natural concern about their future death. Additionally, some of the signs of accomplishment of Phowa practice are physical and visible and often appear after only a short time of practice. Perhaps no Tibetan lama is more identified with the transmission of Phowa to the West than His Eminence Ayang Rinpoche.

Milarepa Empowerment

Milarepa is one of the most celebrated spiritual teachers of all time. He was not only an eminent leader of the Kagyu lineage, but also a very important teacher for all schools of Tibetan Buddhism.

Redeemed from a life of evil, Milarepa became one of the most revered saints of all time. Known for his penetrating insights, wry sense of humour and ability to render any lesson into spontaneous song, Milarepa wandered the rugged terrain of eleventh century Tibet and Nepal guiding countless followers along the Buddhist path through his songs of liberation.

Ayang Rinpoche was one of Milarepa’s close disciples named Repa Shiwa O. Therefore there is a very close connection between his Guru and disciple that extends through nearly 1000 years.

Which makes it all the more poignant when Ayang Rinpoche will bestow Milarepa Empowerment to us in Vancouver. Afterall, how often would we get an opportunity to receive Milarepa Empowerment from his close disciple.

Guru Dragpo Empowerment

Guru Dragpo, a wrathful form of Guru Rinpoche, is a fierce protector of the Dharma and a destroyer of obstacles on the path to enlightenment. This practice is especially beneficial for removing obstacles transforming negative conditions into wisdom light.

A Guru Rinpoche 100,000 Tsok Offering Puja will be held at Ayang Rinpoche's monastery in Bylakuppe, South India this July. It will begin on Guru Rinpoche's Birthday, July 13, and continue on July 14, 2016. This year is the year of the fire monkey, an extremely auspicious time, as fire monkey is the birth year of Guru Rinpoche. It will be another 60 years years before this powerful anniversary happens again.
