Parinirvana of Thinley Norbu Rinpoche

His Holiness Kyabje Dungse Thinley Norbu Rinpoche, eldest son of former head of the Nyingma lineage His Holiness Dudjom Rinpoche, passed into parinirvana December 26, 2011.

Ayang Rinpoche has sent an open condolence letter to Thinley Norbu Rinpoche’s family, disciples and sangha, which is available here. He requests that his own students practice Vajrasattva, according to the wishes of Dungse Thinley Norbu Rinpoche, until January 16, 2012, in order to receive Dungse Rinpoche’s blessings at this time.

Annual 24 hour Vajrasattva Practice

We will again practice Vajrasattva for 24 hours starting on the last day of the Chinese Luna year which is 22nd January at 8 pm and continue till 8 pm 23rd January 2012.

This is to purify our negative karma for the past year and to prepare ourselves for the New Year.

During this short retreat, recitation of Vajrasattva 100 syllable long mantra will be done outloud for two hours and rest for two hours. No solid food is allowed during the retreat. However one is allowed to drink water, juice or milk.

Other than mantra sound, we will observe no verbal communication.

Not everyone is able to attend the full 24 hours, so we welcome people to drop in and participate at their leisure.
