Ayang Rinpoche

Ayang Rinpoche is also the founder of two monasteries, in cluding Thupten Shedup Janchub Ling at Bylakupee, Chogyab, and Ayang Tulku, Ayang being the name of a 435-year-old monastery in Kham (eastern Tibet) which is a branch of the Drikung main monastery.Perhaps no Tibetan lama is more identified with the transmission of Phowa to the West than His Eminence Ayang Rinpoche.

This Mother's Day: Save A Mother's Life

Mother and children living at Nyingje Tso

(Lake of Compassion), Tibet

Dear Jon,

In honor of Mother's Day, and for all motherly sentient beings, we want to remind you about our Safe Home Childbirth in Tibet project. Not only have we been improving birth outcomes since 2004, we have also been supporting the general health of all the nomads in Rima, Ayang Rinpoche's birthplace area. See pictures and read details of our visit to Rima in July, 2016. With the help of many donors we were able to accomplish so much last year!
  • Clinic roof replacement, exterior painting, and repair of interior water damage ($17,275)
  • 51 meter well at the clinic ($3,050)
  • New training program for three barefoot doctors apprenticing with Rima Clinic's doctor
  • Training at Yushu County Hospital for two midwives
  • 100 Clean Birthing Kits ($4,000)
  • Stable infant vaccination program
  • 5-Year evaluation of Community Health Educator program
This year we need to raise $15,000 to pay salaries for 2 doctors, 3 medical trainees, 1 midwife and a new midwife trainee, and the head Community Health Educator. In addition, it will cost $6,000 for 150 birthing kits. The clinic staff has also asked us to raise funds to purchase grinding and rolling machines to make their own traditional Tibetan medicines. This is an excellent business idea to bring in much-needed income to the clinic and make it sustainable into the future. The head doctor has all the necessary knowledge and can train his apprentices to identify and harvest herbal compounds for the medicines. He has estimated it will cost $25-30,000 in initial start-up costs.

Many people and organizations have contributed to support our work in Tibet for the past 14 years. You can make a difference in the lives of these nomad families. A small investment can have a big impact on saving the lives of mothers and infants, and on the overall health of an entire community.

Support the clinic with a one-time or a recurring monthly donation by going to our website or sending a check to our address below.

May your generosity benefit all motherly sentient beings!

Shitro (100 Peaceful and Wrathful Deities) Puja

Dear Sangha,
From March 6-12, 2017, Ayang Rinpoche's monastery in Bylakuppe, South India will hold the annual Shitro (100 Peaceful and Wrathful Deities) Puja to welcome in Losar (Tibetan New Year, February 27) and celebrate the Buddha's Miracle Days, Chötrul Düchen (March 12)During this time, it is believed that the effects of positive actions are multiplied ten million times.
Ayang Rinpoche said about the 100 Peaceful and Wrathful Deities practice, "It is the essence of the 6,400,000 Dzogchen tantras, and merely hearing this teaching cuts through birth in the lower realms; merely understanding it causes one to travel to the ground of great bliss (mahasukha); bringing its meaning to mind causes one to accomplish the irreversible state of the spontaneously arisen awareness holder.  For everyone who connects with this teaching there will be great purpose and meaning." H.E. Ayang Rinpoche, 2009. Read a short excerpt of this teaching.

"Anyone who has family members, friends or loved ones who have died and would like to make donations and dedicate it to them, it [Shitro] is the best opportunity."  Click here to make offerings for butterlamps, tsok, shrine tormas, or money offerings and tea/meals for the monks and lamas. Be sure to include the names of persons or pets for whom you are requesting prayersNames must be received by March 9, 2017 to be included in the prayer list for the monastery, but offerings are welcome at any time.
Click here to see a list of all the annual pujas at Ayang Rinpoche's monastery, with the lunar calendar dates. The Western calendar dates will be posted as soon as they are announced.

Wishing you Losar Tashi Delek (a Happy and Auspicious New Year),

Bodhgaya Phowa Course January 17-26

Ayang Rinpoche is a world-renowned master of Phowa (transference of consciousness at the time of death). Rinpoche says, "My Phowa teaching is for a joyful end to one's life. While you are alive, don't forget about preparing for your death, as we don't know when or how our life will end." Read more about Phowa here. Every year Ayang Rinpoche offers his 10-day Phowa Course in the holy city of Bodhgaya, where the Buddha became enlightened. This year the course will be January 17-26, 2017.

Bodhgaya is extremely crowded this time of year, but if you would like to make last-minute arrangements to attend, you may find links to some travel arrangements and logistics and a Bodhgaya Teaching Site Map on our website. Here are direct links to the Daily Schedule and 2017 Flyer.

Rinpoche invites everyone, whether or not they can make a pilgrimage to Bodhgaya this year, to make an auspicious connection by sponsoring the teachings.
