Dear Sangha, Yarney, or the annual summer retreat, has begun at Thubten Shedrup Jangchupling, Ayang Rinpoche’s monastery in Bylakuppe, India. The retreat for all the monks and lamas will continue through September 14th. This is a tradition that goes back to the time of Buddha. Its original purpose was to allow monks to gather and shelter from the monsoon rains and to take time to reflect, pray, meditate, and listen to dharma teachings.  The first day of the Yarney began with Sojong, a practice for repairing broken vows and replenishing positive virtues, in which many local lay practitioners participate. During Yarney, a special wooden monastic bell, used since the time of Buddha, is rung to call for lunch and morning prayers. The monks take breakfast and lunch in the temple with the traditional monks’ begging bowl. Each evening, everyone recites aspiration prayers (monlam). Read more and support Yarney here. On Saturdays, there are philosophy discussions led by the khenpos and loppons, and on Sundays, selected monks display their philosophical debate skills, which leads to lots of laughter and fun for the rest of the monks. On the last day of Yarney, the monks circumambulate the Amitabha and Achi Temples. Then, for the next three days, the monks have a picnic and party, with games and entertainment. It is considered very important for lay people to participate in these virtuous activities through actions such as making offerings for shrine expenses and sponsoring tea and special meals for the sangha. Honoring Mothers With a Gift for Tibetan Families

Ayang Rinpoche asked some of his Western students in 2004 to visit his monastery area in Eastern Tibet to try to find out why so many women were dying in childbirth. A small group of medical and scientific professionals began going each year to Rima to see what they could learn and try to help improve the conditions there.

Since that time, we were able to build a small clinic with living quarters for two doctors and their families, bring electricity and water to the clinic, purchase an ambulance, ultrasound machine and other medical equipment, provide training for doctors and childbirth educators, and begin a program to distribute birthing kits to local families.

 

Even though these annual visits were suspended during the Coronavirus Pandemic, we have continued to raise money for the clinic, and send funds to pay for salaries for the doctors, clinic equipment and upkeep, medicines and supplies.

Please help us continue this important effort to save mothers' and children's lives and improve health in this rural Tibetan community.

Orgyen Khandro Norlha wealth sang offering and tsok online

 It is said that poverty and famine often follow after pandemics and plagues.  No doubt many of us have deep seated fears, anxieties and actual economic struggles at this time.   But this is also the time when propitiating Guru Padmasambhava in the form of Orgyen Khandro Norlha, the god of Riches, is most effective.   By making generous offerings of food substances, drinks and other forms of material wealth, one gives rise to a deep genuine faith.  Then, praying that by offering these materials and imagined riches to the blessed mandala of Orgyen Khandro Norlha, "may the suffering from poverty itself and even the fear of poverty be totally eradicated for all sentient beings including myself."

On Sunday, April 30th, people are welcome to join our Orgyen Khandro Norlha wealth sang offering and tsok online. The puja will start at 9:00 am 5:30 pm (eastern standard time) with lunch break at noon.

By connecting your offerings to this powerful Dudjom Tersar remedy, from the suffering of poverty, one can join into the interdependent stream of blessings from the sky treasury without limit.   By relying on this treasure in these ways, it is certain poverty will be eradicated.  

Furthermore,  all of you who have made treasure vases during Bodhivastu's efforts last year both in the USA and throughout Europe,  can empower or recharge their vases freshly once again.

There is no participation fee for this program perse, however, it should be understood that it is by making and releasing of offerings both on material and imaginary levels that actual results are realized and manifested from the altruistic generosity and resulting accumulation of ordinary and wisdom merit.

100 Peaceful and Wrathful Deities (Shitro) Pujas and Liberation Ceremony March 1-7, 2023 in Bylakuppe

 

We have corrected payment link to make offerings online for the annual Shitro (100 Peaceful and Wrathful Deities) Puja at Ayang Rinpoche's monastery in Bylakuppe, South India. The puja, celebrating the beginning of the lunar new year, began on March 1 and will conclude on the Great Wheel Full Moon day of Chotrul Duchen, March 7th.

 

The hundred deities are the attributes and activities of the five families of male and female Buddhas. They are manifestations of the pure nature of our minds. By relying on the practice of the hundred deities, or even by just hearing the mantra and seeing the mandala and picture of the hundred deities, one may either instantly or gradually realize that the nature of one’s mind is inseparable from the perfect wisdom of the hundred deities.

 

The monastery dedicates the One Hundred Deities prayers during this week especially for the deceased, as well as for all the sponsors who have supported the monastery. This is the perfect time for people who had lost loved ones, friends and family members to sponsor shrine expenses, special meals, tea and offering to sangha and dedicate the merit to their loved ones. Ayang Rinpoche will perform a Liberation Ceremony for the deceased on the 7th day.

 

Ayang Rinpoche says the Ceremony to Liberate Dead Beings is the best time to dedicate prayers for the departed beings. Anyone who would like to make offerings and dedicate prayers to family members, friends, loved ones or pets who have passed, please make your offering and send in names of the deceased by Sunday, March 5th at 10 pm (Pacific time) to be included in the prayer list for the Liberation Ceremony.

Opak Kyilkhor Chöling Amitabha Foundation Retreat Center, Kathmandu Valley, Nepal Phowa Course March 16-22, 2023

 

His Eminence Choje Ayang Rinpoche has been conducting Phowa courses all over the world for over four decades. Rinpoche had plans to teach Phowa in Nepal too when the Amitabha Temple was completed. Unfortunately, it could not happen as planned, due to the Nepal earthquake in 2015 that damaged the newly constructed Amitabha Temple in Kopan.

 

When the renovation of the temple was complete, the Covid-19 pandemic followed soon thereafter. This affected the whole world and travel and public gatherings were restricted.

 

However, to fulfill the longtime requests and the fervent wish of many local devotees of Vajrayana followers, Rinpoche has now decided to bestow both the Nyingma and Drikung Lineage Phowa teachings at the Amitabha Foundation Retreat Center, Kopan, Buddanilkantha Nagarpalika Ward-11, Kathmandu Nepal.

These are usually 150,000 Long (100 Syllable) Vajrasattva mantras with visualisation, 100,000 Buddha Amitabha mantra with visualisation, plus obtaining a Buddha Amitabha statue or thangka as a support for one's practice.

 

If Rinpoche offers the Introduction to the True Nature of the Mind, this will probably be after not before the Phowa course. However this has not been confirmed.
